$10,000 Amber Grant

Native American women who have an entrepreneurial dream may want to apply for the $10,000 Amber Grant for Women. The business grant is open to all women, including Native American women. The grant is ideal for those women who either already have a small business that they would like to grow or who have a dream of starting their own business. The Amber Grant for Women aims to help women who desire to own their own business and be their own boss.

The Amber Grants concept started in 1998. It was started after a young woman named Amber died at the young age of 19. She didn’t get a chance to follow her entrepreneurial dreams, and that set the wheels in motion for the grants to be given out each year that help other women get to do just that. These grants are given out each year in her name, known as the Amber Grants for Women, both keeping her memory alive and giving many women wonderful opportunities.

Native Americans women who own businesses or would like to start a business may want to apply for the Amber Grant for Women. Here is some important information to keep in mind about the Amber Grants:

  • The Amber Grant’s mission is to help women achieve their dreams, which is something that the person who the grants are named for didn’t get a chance to do.
  • There are 12 women who receive a $1,000 Amber Grant throughout the year. Each month for the whole year, there is one woman in business who is chosen to win the $1,000 grant. Those who win the $1,000 grant are automatically entered to win the $10,000 yearly grant. Each year, there is one $10,000 women’s business grant that is given away.
  • Judges select the monthly winner to receive the $1,000 women’s business grant. All 12 of these women then become finalists for the $10,000 grant, which is given away at the end of each year. The cutoff period for the monthly grant is the last day of each month.
  • Native Americans who would like to apply for the Amber Grants for Women can do so online. Simply fill out the online application.
  • Women who are applying for the Amber Grants do not need to sound corporate when applying. Past winners are everyday women who share their story from the heart, and that resonates with the judges.
  • There is no limit on what the Amber Grant can be used for in terms of starting or growing a business. There have been winners who have used it to fund starting a bakery and others who used it to invent something new.
  • There is no business idea that is too small or too big to apply for the grants. If you have a great idea or a passion for something you want to share with the world, then your business idea will count. It’s about having a passion for and an interest in what you are doing that matters most.
  • When applying, you will share with the judges what your business does, or will do, and what types of opportunities and challenges you encounter. You will also need to be specific in sharing what you will do with the money if an Amber Grant is awarded to you. Along with sharing what you would do with the $1,000 grant, you also need to say what you would do with the funds if you were to be selected to win the $10,000 award.
  • There is a $15 fee for submitting the application to apply for the Amber Grant, which can be paid for with a credit card.
  • As people win the monthly $1,000 grant they are posted on their website. Visitors to the site can vote on the recipients who they think should win the $10,000 award.
